As usual, the fourteenth edition of the Sony World Photography Awards is gradually revealing its results. If a few weeks ago we told you about the national and regional awards, now the organization has announced the finalists of the professional competition, who opt to become «Photographer of the Year», and among which there are six Spanish artists.
They are among the 30 finalists whose works have been selected «for the quality of their work and the stories they tell» from among the more than 145,000 photographs entered in the ten categories of the ‘Professional‘ contest (out of a total of some 330,000), which rewards series of between five and ten photos. All of them will compete for first place in their category and, subsequently, may go on to compete for the main prize, the most outstanding of what is undoubtedly one of the most important photography competitions in the world.
The Spanish finalists are Brais Lorenzo Couto in the ‘Portfolio’ category, Antonio Pérez in ‘Environment‘, Patrick Meinhardt in ‘Sport‘, Paloma Rincon in ‘Still Life‘ and Luis Tato and Ángel Fitor both in the ‘Wildlife & Nature‘ category. In addition, 58 photographers have also been shortlisted among which there is also national representation (in different categories): JM López, Sergio Aparicio OKOBÉ, Antonio Aragón Renuncio, Charly López and Berenice Riu.
